Frequently Asked Questions
How soon can I be seen after I request a consultation?
We prioritize patient care and typically schedule appointments within 24-48 hours of your consultation request. For urgent cases, we work to accommodate same-day or next-day visits when possible. Our goal is to get you the care you need as quickly as possible.
Do you accept Medicare and insurance?
Yes, we accept Medicare Part B and most major insurance plans. We handle all benefits verification and billing on your behalf, so you can focus on your recovery. If you’re unsure whether your insurance is accepted, please contact us and we’ll be happy to verify your coverage.
What happens during my first visit?
During your initial visit, our provider will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your wound, review your medical history, evaluate your home environment, and discuss your health goals. We’ll explain our findings, answer your questions, and develop a personalized care plan tailored to your specific needs. We’ll also provide education on wound care and prevention strategies.
What types of wounds do you treat?
We specialize in treating a wide range of chronic and complex wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure injuries, venous leg ulcers, post-surgical wounds, non-healing wounds, and radiation-related wounds. If you’re unsure whether we treat your specific condition, please contact us to discuss your situation.
How often will I need visits?
Visit frequency depends on your wound type, severity, and healing progress. Some patients require weekly visits, while others may need visits every two weeks or monthly. We’ll establish a schedule during your initial assessment and adjust it as your wound heals. We’ll work with you to find a schedule that fits your lifestyle.
Can family members or caregivers be present during visits?
Absolutely! We encourage family members and caregivers to be present during visits. We believe that involving your support system is crucial to successful healing. We’ll teach caregivers how to assist with wound care and provide guidance on what to watch for between visits.
What should I prepare before my first visit?
Before your first visit, please have the following ready: a list of current medications, any previous wound care records or imaging, your insurance information, and a list of any questions or concerns you have. Make sure your home is accessible for our provider and that you have a comfortable place for the visit. We’ll handle all wound care supplies.
Do you provide telehealth visits?
Yes, we offer telehealth visits for follow-up care, progress monitoring, and treatment adjustments when appropriate. Telehealth visits allow you to connect with our provider from home for routine check-ins and to discuss your healing progress. In-home visits are still recommended for wound assessments and treatments.
What if my wound isn't healing as expected?
If your wound isn’t progressing as anticipated, we’ll conduct a thorough reassessment to identify any underlying factors affecting healing. This may include reviewing your nutrition, circulation, medications, and home care routine. We may adjust your treatment plan, recommend additional therapies, or coordinate with your physician for further evaluation.
How do you handle wound care supplies?
We bring all necessary wound care supplies to your home for each visit. This includes dressings, cleansing solutions, and any specialized materials needed for your treatment. We’ll also provide guidance on supplies you may need between visits and help you understand how to order them if needed.
What is your service area?
We serve Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, and Putnam Counties in New York, as well as Fairfield, New Haven, Litchfield, and Hartford Counties in Connecticut. If you’re unsure whether we serve your specific location, please contact us and we’ll let you know if we can help.
What are your office hours and availability?
We’re available 9 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week, to accommodate your schedule. We understand that healing doesn’t follow a 9-to-5 schedule, so we offer flexible appointment times to fit your needs. You can reach us by phone at (914) 775-9596 or email at info@mobilewoundcare.com.
Do you work with my primary care provider?
Yes, coordination with your primary care provider is an important part of our approach. We communicate regularly with your doctor to ensure your wound care aligns with your overall health management. We’ll keep your provider updated on your progress and coordinate any additional treatments or specialist referrals as needed.
What if I have questions between visits?
We’re here to support you throughout your healing journey. If you have questions or concerns between visits, please don’t hesitate to contact us. You can call us during business hours or leave a message, and we’ll get back to you promptly. For urgent concerns, we have protocols to address time-sensitive issues.
How long does the healing process typically take?
Healing timelines vary significantly depending on the wound type, size, severity, and individual health factors. Some wounds heal in weeks, while others may take months. During your initial assessment, we’ll provide a realistic estimate based on your specific situation. We’ll monitor your progress and adjust expectations as needed.
What happens after my wound heals?
After your wound has healed, we’ll provide you with a comprehensive care plan for prevention and long-term wellness. This includes guidance on skin care, circulation support, nutrition, and warning signs to watch for. We’ll also coordinate with your primary care provider to ensure ongoing preventive care.
